Free Cengage Unlimited Subscription for HBCU Students

If you’re a student at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), then there’s good news coming your way! According to a recent press release, 1000 HBCU students will receive a free Cengage Unlimited subscription, thanks to the partnership between Cengage and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).

UNCF is the largest educational organization that supports and advocates for minorities, and has been for almost 75 years. The UNCF will be charged with running the program and selecting the 1000 recipients of the semester-long subscription.

As the first all-access subscription for college students to utilize in place of their textbooks, a Cengage Unlimited subscription can truly set a student up for success. Recently, Cengage partnered with Dashlane to give students access to premium password protection at no additional cost. Students with subscriptions will also have access to resources from Evernote, Kaplan, Quizlet, and Chegg. Paying for a Cengage Unlimited subscription unlocks all kinds of goodies for students — definitely worth it.

“Every student should have an equal opportunity to succeed, and having the right learning materials can have a critical impact on performance,” said Michael Hansen, CEO, Cengage. “The high cost of textbooks have prohibited this for many students. This is why we launched Cengage Unlimited – to make quality learning more affordable. UNCF has helped thousands of learners, enabling opportunities for minority students through its financial support and public advocacy. We are proud to partner with UNCF to ease some of the financial burden these students face and ensure they are equipped with the tools they need to reach their full potential.”

Because Cengage and UNCF are only selecting 1000 students, eligibility will be based on financial need, GPA, an essay, and a letter of recommendation. 500 students will be awarded the scholarship in the fall of 2019, with 500 more selected in the spring. Applications are being accepted through August 29, 2019, for the fall semester, and spring semester applications will open on November 4, 2019.
